CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We at Emcure, see Social Initiatives as an integral component of Corporate Social Responsibility. Our investments in the community have gone beyond the adhoc disbursement of funds, to planned programs in areas of healthcare, education and environment.
This quarter we have engaged in the following CSR activities -

.

In March, we set up a holi booth at Emcure to sell natural colors with 2 objectives - to help an NGO Ecoexist raise funds and to create awareness amongst Emcureans about the  advantages of using natural colors. We also sponsored a holi party for the School for Blind with the help of Ecoexist.

With our foray into neuroscineces, we thought it would be apt to initiate CSR in this area, with that in mind; we funded an NGO Connecting Trust that will conduct awareness workshops in over 70 schools in Pune on the subject of "Suicide is not the solution - Ways to deal with stress".

Diwali fair – Each year we invite NGOs to display their wares during a Diwali fair. Our employees attend and contribute generously towards this noble cause.

Cancer Patients Diwali party – We donated mithai boxes to over 100 patients at their annual Diwali party.

Childrens day drive – On November 14th, we collected over 2500 items such as clothes, shoes, toys, books and school material from our Emcureans from various facilities. We donated them to various NGOs such as Door Step School, Gurukul, Ashta Nao Koi and other balwadis in the city.

Dental Camp – We organized a dental camp for 120 Gurukul orphanage kids. In addition to being treated, they were shown various cartoons and films to increase awareness on dental hygiene.

Art Based Therapy – Emcure CSR is proud to be involved in very diverse and unique social causes. This quarter we helped the World Center for Creative Learning Foundation that deploys therapists who use music to assist and heal people with special needs such as autistic children, deaddiction centers etc.

With power and resources comes great responsibility. Emcure is fully aware of its responsibility towards social causes and we hope to make our Emcureans proud to be a part of worthy initiatives.

Nirmalya:
Project initiative, in association with 'Kagad Patra Kashtakari Panchayat', a union of waste collectors and rag-pickers. The objective was to clean up the city after the Ganesh Festival. Rag pickers were posted at various ghats to collect discarded nirmalya (bio-degradable waste such as flowers, leaves, fabric, and fruits) for recycling purposes instead of letting it rot in the local rivers. This was then sent to Yerawada Central jail to be converted into eco friendly holi colour powder by the women prisoners, who earn some extra money in the process. Emcure has sponsored this project by providing buckets, uniforms, raincoats, gloves and labour cost to the rag pickers involved in the project. We are proud to be part of this creative project that helps keep the city clean, recycles waste to make holi colors as well as provides supplemental income to ragpickers and jail women.

Project Bicycle:
In various villages around big cities are children in the age group of 6 - 16 walking on average 7 to 8 km to their schools to get an education. On the other hand there are various urban citizens who have old cycles rusting in their garages. The goal of this project is to collect such old bicycles, repair them and distribute them to the needy village kids. In the first phase of the project Emcure has helped in the collection, repair and distribution of 85 cycles to Kondhur and Tamhini villages on the outskirts of Pune.

TAAL :
'Smart diet is the key to healthy ways' says Dr. Ghanshyam Asrani Chairman, Gorakhpur Health Home, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and practicing Ayurveda. Dr. Asrani was speaking to a gathering of 90 odd people on 'Diet Habits for Positive People' on Sunday 28th June, 2009 at Hotel Relax Garden, Kalyan. The talk was organized by Emcure in association with Taal Kalyan for PLH (People Living with HIV) and their families from Kalyan and Panvel areas.
